The result of many years of environmental commitment by our House, Langlois Blanc de Blancs Organic 2021 Extra Brut marks a significant milestone in our history: our organically certified Crémant de Loire. In this bold and demanding vintage sparkling wine, the purity of Chenin Blanc truly shines.
A Blanc de Blancs crafted to celebrate the brilliance of Chenin Blanc
Shaped by exceptional winemaking expertise, this Extra Brut Crémant delicately expresses the purity of Chenin Blanc, the signature grape variety at the heart of the Langlois style. The freshness and elegance of this iconic Loire grape, which accounts for 63% of the blend, are enhanced by the vibrancy of Chardonnay, as well as by the absence of malolactic fermentation and a low dosage of 3 g/L.
The two white grape varieties reached optimum ripeness during the challenging 2021 vintage. Following a cold, wet spring and a cooler-than-average summer, the grapes ripened slowly, producing Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay of remarkable aromatic purity. The later harvest delivered fruit with outstanding freshness and beautifully balanced acidity.
Langlois Crémant de Loire produced using organic viticulture
This cuvée is the House’s first organically certified Crémant de Loire, reflecting Langlois’ long-standing commitment to sustainable viticulture and preceding the full organic certification of its 62-hectare vineyard in 2025. Produced in a limited edition of just 25,000 bottles, this elegant sparkling wine comes from our finest limestone parcels in Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent.
This exceptional Loire wine is also defined by uncompromising attention to detail that goes beyond appellation requirements: grapes are harvested exclusively by hand in shallow 40 cm crates to preserve their integrity; they are gently pressed within hours of harvest at 200 kg per 100 L, compared with the respective AOP limits of 150 kg/100 L for Crémant de Loire and 160 kg/102 L for Champagne. Only the cuvée juice is selected, followed by more than three years of ageing on the lees in the House’s historic tuffeau cellars (far exceeding the 12-month minimum required for Crémant de Loire) and over six months of bottle ageing after disgorgement.
Behind this Blanc de Blancs Crémant: a collective and creative achievement
This elegant French sparkling wine is the result of many years of dedicated work to faithfully express the winemaking expertise of Langlois Crémant de Loire. Bringing this cuvée to life required the commitment and collaboration of every member of our team.
Following the separate vinification of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay from different terroirs, our teams came together to taste the base wines and carry out a rigorous selection, with one ambition: to reveal the purest expression of Chenin Blanc. This bold approach to blending continued in the cellars, where time was allowed to do its work, enabling this organic Crémant to fully express its character.
« After years of dedicated work involving all of our teams, the ageing period on the lees proved decisive for this Crémant de Loire. We chose to leave it in our cellars longer than originally planned, allowing it to develop its finesse and remarkable aromatic complexity to the fullest. »
