2025 marks a key milestone in the history of our Maison, founded in 1885: this year, we are proudly celebrating 140 years of excellence and commitment dedicated to showcasing the Loire Valley, the birthplace of our fine sparkling wines. To honour this very special anniversary, our team has naturally joined forces with the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud to create a timeless experience that will be unveiled on June 7: Symphonic Eclipse.
The Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, another Loire Valley treasure
Just 20 km from Maison Langlois and Saumur, not far from Europe’s last wild river, the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud has stood since 1101. It quickly became one of the most powerful monasteries in Europe and later housed the necropolis of the Plantagenets, including Eleanor of Aquitaine, Henry II and Richard the Lionheart. Over the centuries, the abbey was transformed into a prison before becoming a major cultural venue. Today, the abbey and its modern art museum host exhibitions, concerts and artist residencies within a magnificent thousand-year-old architectural setting.
Much like Crémants de Loire, this jewel is inseparable from the rich heritage of the Saumur region. Just like the landscapes and vineyards of the Loire Valley, it is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its cultural programme, blending creativity, passion and authenticity, resonates perfectly with our philosophy : celebrating part of our 140 year history in such an exceptional setting was an obvious choice for our team…
Symphonic Eclipse, an original and emotion-filled performance
On Saturday, June 7, 2025, from nightfall onwards, the magnificent apse of the abbey church will become the spectacular backdrop for a grand sound and light experience, blending classical music, electronic music and video projections. Entitled Symphonic Eclipse, this unique performance will invite you to explore all the magic of a solar eclipse, whose stardust evokes the delicate bubbles of our French sparkling wines…
From 9:15 pm and throughout the evening, our great Loire sparkling wines will accompany this exceptional event. From sight to sound, through aroma and taste, your senses will be awakened during an unforgettable journey combining elegance and creativity. A beautiful way to share with you what has inspired us for nearly a century and a half: elevating simple moments with creativity and sincerity…
Jérémie Bellot, Stradivaria, Ena Eno: a Bold Artistic Collaboration
Symphonic Eclipse reveals itself as an original audiovisual creation blending musical heritage with contemporary technologies. This tribute to the beauty of astronomical mysteries was born from the imagination and talent of a unique artistic trio:
- Visual artist Jérémie Bellot: both architect and digital creator, he explores the boundaries between reality and virtual worlds. Internationally acclaimed, he illuminates some of the world’s most iconic monuments with his moving video.
- The Stradivaria orchestra, conducted by Guillaume Cuiller: passionate about the Baroque repertoire, the conductor and oboist is renowned for his rigorous attention to historical accuracy and authentic interpretation with the Nantes-based ensemble Stradivaria.
- Contemporary composer Ena Eno: the acousmatic musician and sound artist skillfully blends tradition and modernity, notably through creations designed for unusual venues and explorations of space itself.
Facing the abbey’s apse, Stradivaria will open the performance with Mozart’s Gran Partita. Gradually, Ena Eno’s electronic notes will rise in turn, while Jérémie Bellot orchestrates a monumental visual projection, poetically navigating between shadow and light…
